Get, Give, Give Back: Shop with Purpose this Christmas
It is easy to get distracted at Christmas by all the flashing lights, the black Friday sales (which seem to start well before Friday), even the sappy commercials advertising yet another item they think you must have under your tree this year. But if you take the time to really focus on the meaning of CHRISTmas, then you know it is about giving because we have already been given the greatest gift of all.
So how can you give this year? It is a simple idea…get, give, give back: shop with purpose this Christmas.
Three years ago for Christmas, my husband and I decided to only buy from companies that give back in some way. It was a challenge at first because we had to do some research, but we soon realized that many companies are giving back with every purchase you make. So if you are going to spend money, why not spend it with people who are doing good things with your money?!? Honestly, it was so much more fun buying gifts knowing we were also helping a cause in some way.Get, Give, Give Back: Shop with Purpose this Christmas Click To Tweet
Here are a few companies, some big, some not so big that are really making a difference. I hope you too will decide to get, give, give back: shop with purpose this Christmas. A purpose to help others, to give back, to pay it forward.
Sweet Charity Clothing Company: I have talked about this company before (here) because I just love everything that the owner, Taryn, is doing to promote giving back. For every item in her shop she picks a different charity to donate proceeds of the sales. Not only is she a mom who knows fashion, but she has a heart of gold and wants to help those in need. And for all my followers she is offering a discount using the code “PrincessMom20.” Here is one of my new favorite looks from her shop. Go now to check it out, things sell out fast!
Toms: With every product purchase, Toms will help a person in need. One for One. Most of us know if you buy a pair of their shoes, a pair of shoes goes to a child in need. But now they are doing the same thing with eyewear (restoring sight for a person in need), bags (providing a safe birth place for a mother and baby in need), coffee (providing safe water to a person in need), the list goes on…I LOVE this bag, perfect for fitting all my mom things and still super cute!
And of course you can’t go wrong with the most classic pair of Toms in the perfect shade of red just in time for the holiday season.
And the matching red kid shoes are a must! We love matching shoes as a family!
International Princess Project: This is a line of loungewear, called Punjammies, that create ways of freedom for women escaping sex slavery. Every pair of punjammies is named after a woman who is now steadily employed in a stable, living-wage job with a Sudara sewing center partnership. I adore these red plaid ones…
And these black, white and gold ones caught my eye too!
One Hope Wines: With every bottle of wine purchased a part of the sales goes to different charitable organizations. Some of the causes are; Save Our Planet (40,215 trees planted), Provide Clean Water (3,372 people provided with clean drinking water), Help Preemie Babies (64,903 babies provided with diapers), Support our Troops (756 veterans sent aid in natural disaster), the list goes on…I love this combo pack of wines, great as a gift for family, friends or neighbors, or even for the annual Christmas party.
DIFF Eyewear: A sunglass company that is making sure for every pair of sunglasses sold a pair of reading glasses are given to someone in need. Great, right? I mean, if you are going to buy a nice pair of sunglasses, why not make sure someone else can benefit? I have two pairs now and LOVE them. Use the code “PRINCESS25” to get a 25% discount.
Wounded Warrior Project: Their mission is to “honor and empower wounded warriors.” They strive to bring awareness to the public regarding the health and well-being of injured veterans and provide those wounded with programs and services to meet their needs. Here are a couple of options. This classic swiss army knifeOr this paracord survival strap is a great idea for the outdoorsy guy.
Yoobi: For every purchase of one of their school supplies an item will be donated to a classroom in need, right here in the U.S. A simple, yet impacting company helping one classroom at a time. I am loving these glitter pens which would make great stocking stuffers.
Or I also love this combo pack of crayons, glue sticks, and pens.
Krochet Kids: Selling hats, clothes and bags for men, women and children. They work with women who live in poverty stricken regions of the world and give them the skills, education, and resources to change their circumstances. Each piece is hand signed by the woman who made it. I absolutely LOVE this kids owl hat
I also love this black and white infinity scarf for ladies
31 Bits: I have fallen in love with this company. There service model is to “use fashion and design to empower people to rise above poverty.” They provide work opportunities with fair and sustainable wages for artists worldwide. I love these bracelets and I wear them all the time!
I also love this necklace because of its neutral colors and may be adding it to my wish list this year!;)
I love this one too…the pop of color would be so great with a simple white tank or a little black dress.
Project 7: This company sells gum, snacks, bottled water and clothing. For each product purchased they make donations for items like fruit, trees, meals, digging wells, and providing education. I love this multi-pack of gum, again, great for stuffing those stockings.
Or these yummy gummy candies
Princess In A Former Life: Do these shirts look familiar?? I am also giving back with every purchase!! This line of shirts was designed by me and I always thought it would be so cool to be able to do something great with the profits. To be honest I have only sold a few, but that won’t stop me from donating my proceeds. So go ahead, buy a shirt! All proceeds are going to Samaritins Purse.
There are so many more amazing companies out there, these are just a few of the ones I have come across while doing my own research. I highly encourage you to get, give, give back: shop with purpose this Christmas. You CAN make a difference with one purchase. Merry Christmas!
