If you’ve been around for a while, you know I love to plan parties. But if you also know me then you know I am not so good at planning surprise parties. Ten years ago I tried to plan a surprise 30th birthday for my husband and he ended up proposing to me on the same night. I guess I’m not too good at keeping secrets from the man I love, but it did not stop me from trying to do it again for his 40th birthday.
This time around I decided no formal invitations, no decorations, just some friends gathering around such an incredible man. A party like this needed an epic backdrop, so I took to the streets. I asked a few friends for recommendations and the one that stood out to me immediately was a rooftop bar in Anaheim called The Fifth. Of course I did some research and realized not only would we be on the rooftop, but we would have a view of the Disneyland parks. I knew this was the place we had to have the party.Find out where the best rooftop bar in the OC is located! Click To Tweet
I contacted The Fifth and they were amazing to work with while planning the “simple” gathering. I was able to pick out food from their incredible catering menu and when the food arrived, it did not disappoint. Sometimes the pictures look better than the actual food, but not in this case, everything was delicious.
They set up a drink station with water, lemonade and ice tea and we also had our own server who took drink orders constantly throughout the night.
I was also able to secure an area just for our party that included couches with fire pits and some cocktail tables as well.
I brought dessert in, but the staff was readily available to help me with storing it until we were ready, setting up and even the candle lighting.
As the night grew later there was a live band that played and we were able to get out on the dance floor a couple times to continue our celebration. They have different bands playing on different evenings and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of talent that played the night we were there.
Also, on certain nights if you are lucky enough you might even catch a glimpse of the Disneyland fireworks. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see them, but it just gives us more incentive to want to go back!;) This is what the view of the fireworks could look like from the rooftop.
I would like to say my husband was super surprised about the party, but alas, he did have some suspicions. Even though it wasn’t a complete surprise he was overwhelmed by the evening; the friends, the view, the music, it was all quite magical. Thank you to everyone that helped us to celebrate this occasion and thank you to The Fifth for such an amazing backdrop for our night. This is hands down the best rooftop bar in the OC, so make sure you check them out for your next date night or the next time you need to plan a party.
***The Fifth was gracious enough to waive the cover charge for our guests. But as always all opinions are my own!;)***
