“Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it” -Roald Dahl
We were gifted tickets to see Disney Live! Mickey & Minnie’s Doorway to Magic on stage here in Southern California and of course I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to see all of our favorite characters perform! I’m going to be really honest, I was surprised at how much I loved it. I thought it was going to be a little cheesy, but the talent was top notch and our kids were thoroughly entertained, as were we adults.
The show grabbed all of our attention right from the start with Mickey and the gang and even Tinkerbell. There was lots of audience participation by teaching us a magical spell to use throughout the show. We were taken to lands to visit all our beloved Disney friends like Cinderella, who happened to have an amazing quick change right on stage in her magic coach.
Our favorite Toy Story toys came to life and we especially loved the laser light show that Buzz performed as well as the awesome jump roping skills of the green army men and pals.
One of the other surprises of the night was when they incorporated magic into some of the scenes. One in particular was during the Rupunzel songs the performers were able to cut a girl in half, turn a guys head all the way around and magically replace Flynn Rider, who was locked up in a box, with the Captain of the guards within seconds. I think we were all amazed and questioned “how did they do that?”
We had a great time and I would most definitely take the kids to see the show again. There is one more California performance January 21st in Ontario. Then the show is headed to Oregon, Washington, Colorado, then starts to head more east. You can see the full schedule of where they will be next HERE.
