“I can’t control everything in my life, but I can control what I put in my body.” -unknown

Can I be really honest here? Of course I can, this is my blog after all. I have been feeling so grossed out about how we have been eating lately. During the summer we did The Whole 30 diet and we looked and felt great! I shared our story about our experience with cutting out sugar, carbs, dairy for 30 days and claimed that we were going to try to continue our good eating habits. Well, here is where the honesty comes in, we haven’t. And not just cheats here and there, I am talking about pizza one night, In-N-Out the next night, followed by loads of Halloween candy, Thanksgiving pies and now Christmas cookies. Tis the season to pack on the pounds, am I right?!? I think our bellies are shaking like bowls full of jelly and we are not trying out for the part of Santa. All the work we did is completely gone and I feel terrible.

But there is light at the end of the tunnel. My husband and I agreed that we want to do The Whole 30 again as soon as Christmas is over. Yes, we will be one of the million American’s who say they are going on a diet for their New Years Resolutions. But we have a plan. First, we are going to start with The Whole 30, then once that is over we are going to have some help with our meal planning. Because isn’t that the hardest part? As parents we don’t always take the time to cook a healthy meal, especially if your kids are not eating what you are eating. So half the time I find myself eating chicken nuggets and macaroni and cheese leftovers (while standing over the trash can).

The only New Years Resolution I'm making is going to be cooking with Sun Basket, find out why... Click To Tweet

After our 3o days are over we will then start cooking with Sun Basket. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this company, let me tell you, I’m in love. Sun Basket is a food delivery service that brings you 3 meals all prepped and ready for you to cook. I have tried other food delivery’s before, but this one is unlike the rest because it has so many healthier options. You can choose gluten free, vegetarian, or paleo, which is what we decided on for our first box and will be doing in the New Year.

Sun Basket only offers high quality, organic, non-GMO, meats, fruits and veggies. Their ingredients are fresh, sustainably sourced, seasonal ingredients from the Pacific Coast’s best farms. You can really taste the difference. We tried the Paleo meals and they were awesome! Your box gets sent with the 3 meals all divided up for you with the ingredients and recipe cards (which was something I had to do with other subscriptions, so this was extra nice that they already did this for us).

Then once you take everything out it is all measured and labeled so there is no additional steps you have to take once you start cooking.

I have been getting sun basket paleo for a few months. I have not seen honey in any. If some sweetness is required, they use tiny amounts of organic Maple syrup in some recipes, or chopped date. You can look at the recipe ingredients before choosing . There are usually 4 paleo options, and you get three choices. Most have neither. These are just so easy and delicious. I work full time, and love the quick prep times.

I actually never said that SunBasket uses honey, I was just stating the difference between The Whole 30 and Paleo diets. But thank you so much for your comment and for stopping by!:)

Funny, saw this article after my hubby and I felt the same way and had already decided to do the exact same thing. However, we were thinking the Sun Basket would be fine doing as part of our meal planning for Whole30. Is there a reason you didn’t just start with Sun Basket during your 30 days of Whole30? Curious and wondering if Sun Basket paleo options aren’t as Whole30 compliant as I thought they were…???

There is a reason we are not starting with Sun Basket. Paleo is not the same as The Whole 30. Just so you know there are differences. You can google it, but off the top of my head I know The Whole 30 is more strict, for instance Paleo allows honey and Whole 30 does not. That is just one example.
